"Kepler and TESS: Not just for planets! "

A Pretty Image from the Talk

Abstract:

Thanks to 25 years of dedicated exoplanet searches, we now know of the existence of thousands of planetary systems. The search to detect these planets has required time-series observations of millions of stars. What happens to the stars that we don't detect planets around? Transit search missions have also allowed advances in stellar and galactic astronomy well beyond the core mission requirements. In this seminar, I will discuss some of the lagniappe science results enabled by the Kepler and TESS missions which add to their legacies and enable us to understand the variable nature of stars at all ages, from the pre-main sequence to the red giant branch.
