"Imaging the Youngest Exoplanets"

A Pretty Image from the Talk

Abstract:

While observations of protoplanetary disks or mature planetary systems have informed a rich and evolving theory of planet formation, crucial stages of the process remain unconstrained. In this talk, I will discuss observations that aim to image forming planets that are still embedded in protoplanetary disks. These observations are challenging, and I will discuss how small signals are extracted from the data, as well as the reliability of detections. To date, several candidates have been identified, with tantalizing suggestions of multiple (proto-)planets in some cases.
