"Culture, Leadership, and Education"

Abstract:

Every endeavor is a human endeavor, and that includes space missions, classroom education, and fundamental research. The success of all these endeavors relies upon the culture of the people working together. The key 21st-century skills of complex interdisciplinary problem-solving, goal-setting, team collaboration, creativity, and analytic reasoning are those that humans uniquely bring to the workforce, but they are seldom explicitly taught. And a collaborative, supportive culture is the way to create and maintain a diverse team. In this talk I'll discuss our efforts at creating positive, effective team cultures in the Psyche mission, in our academic units at ASU, and in the classroom for the future workforce.
